Uses

Management of secondary hyperparathyroidism in chronic kidney disease and hypocalcemia associated with renal failure. Also supports metabolic bone disease related to these conditions.

Do not use if

Hypercalcemia, vitamin D toxicity, or hypersensitivity to calcitriol.

Side effects

Hypercalcemia, nausea, weakness, constipation, and symptoms of vitamin D excess may occur.

Warnings

Monitor calcium levels closely. Overdose may cause severe hypercalcemia and tissue calcification.
