Uses

Used as a nutritional supplement combining lactoferrin (an iron-binding glycoprotein with antimicrobial and immune-modulating properties), vitamin C, and zinc to support immune function, iron bioavailability, and antioxidant defenses.

Do not use if

No absolute contraindications established for this nutritional combination. Use with caution in patients with known sensitivity to dairy proteins (lactoferrin is bovine-derived in most products).

Side effects

Generally well tolerated. High doses of vitamin C may cause gastrointestinal upset or diarrhea. Excess zinc supplementation can interfere with copper absorption. Lactoferrin is rarely associated with adverse effects.

Warnings

Consult a physician before use in individuals with metabolic conditions, renal impairment, or known allergy to bovine milk proteins. Do not exceed recommended daily doses.

How it works

Lactoferrin binds and transports iron, exhibits direct antimicrobial activity, and modulates innate and adaptive immunity. Vitamin C is a cofactor for collagen synthesis and acts as a reducing agent enhancing non-heme iron absorption. Zinc supports enzymatic function, immune cell development, and antioxidant defense through superoxide dismutase.
