Uses

Used for serious infections caused by susceptible gram-negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to colistin or formulation components.

May cause nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, dizziness, paresthesia, rash, and gastrointestinal upset.

Monitor renal and neurologic function closely during treatment.

Colistin disrupts bacterial cell membrane integrity, leading to cell death.

Store at 20–25°C. Reconstituted solutions should be stored according to manufacturer instructions.
