Uses
Nandrolone decanoate is an anabolic-androgenic steroid indicated for the management of anemia of renal insufficiency, osteoporosis, and certain wasting conditions. It was also used to increase lean body mass in catabolic states. Its use is now significantly restricted or withdrawn in many countries.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in prostate carcinoma, breast carcinoma in males, pregnancy, severe hepatic dysfunction, nephrotic syndrome, and hypersensitivity to the product. Not for use in children due to risk of premature closure of epiphyses.
Side effects
In women: virilization (deepening of voice, hirsutism, clitoral enlargement, menstrual irregularities). In men: suppression of spermatogenesis, testicular atrophy, gynecomastia. General effects include acne, edema, hepatotoxicity, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular risk.
Warnings
Use with extreme caution in patients with cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease. Regular monitoring of liver function, lipid profile, and hematocrit is recommended during therapy. Potential for abuse and dependence exists; classified as a controlled substance in many jurisdictions.
How it works
Nandrolone is a 19-nortestosterone derivative with high anabolic and low androgenic activity. The decanoate ester provides prolonged release over 2–4 weeks after intramuscular injection. It stimulates erythropoiesis, protein synthesis, and bone mineral density.
Storage
Store at room temperature (15–30°C), away from light. Protect the ampoule from freezing.
