Uses
This combination is used primarily as a dietary supplement for the management of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and related ovulatory dysfunction and insulin resistance. Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol are insulin sensitizers that improve hormonal balance, while folic acid supports early pregnancy and reduces neural tube defect risk.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component. Folic acid should be used cautiously in patients with vitamin B12 deficiency as it may mask megaloblastic anemia.
Side effects
Generally well tolerated. Mild gastrointestinal effects such as nausea, flatulence, or loose stools may occur at high doses. No significant adverse effects reported at recommended doses.
Warnings
High-dose folic acid supplementation may mask vitamin B12 deficiency. Clinical evidence for inositol in PCOS is based largely on observational studies; discuss with a healthcare provider before use especially in diabetes.
How it works
Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol are stereoisomers of inositol that serve as second messengers in insulin signal transduction. They improve insulin sensitivity and reduce hyperandrogenism in PCOS. The physiological ratio of myo- to D-chiro-inositol is approximately 40:1. Folic acid (vitamin B9) is essential for nucleotide synthesis and one-carbon metabolism, critical for cell division and fetal development.
Storage
Store at room temperature (15–25°C), protected from moisture and heat. Keep in original packaging.
