Uses
Used to temporarily relieve symptoms of hay fever and other upper respiratory allergies, including sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, itching of the nose or throat, nasal congestion, and sinus pressure. Also relieves nasal congestion associated with the common cold.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient. Do not use in patients currently taking or within 2 weeks of stopping a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). Avoid in patients with severe hypertension or coronary artery disease.
Side effects
May cause nervousness, dizziness, or insomnia due to the pseudoephedrine component. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur. Discontinue use and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen, persist beyond 7 days, or are accompanied by fever.
Warnings
Use with caution in patients with hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease, or prostate enlargement. Avoid exceeding recommended doses. Contains sodium (10 mg/tablet) and calcium (25 mg/tablet); consider this in patients on restricted diets. Store between 20°C and 25°C.
How it works
Loratadine is a long-acting selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist that reduces allergic symptoms without significant sedation. Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic amine that acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors to cause vasoconstriction in nasal mucosa, thereby relieving congestion.
Storage
Store between 20°C and 25°C. Do not use if blister units are torn, broken, or show signs of tampering.
