Uses
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for the management of menopausal symptoms such as vasomotor symptoms (hot flushes), vaginal atrophy, and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women with an intact uterus.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in known or suspected breast cancer, oestrogen-dependent malignancies, undiagnosed genital bleeding, untreated endometrial hyperplasia, active or recent thromboembolic disease, acute liver disease, and porphyria.
Side effects
Common side effects include breast tenderness, irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting, nausea, headache, and oedema. Long-term use may increase risks of breast cancer, venous thromboembolism, and cardiovascular events.
Warnings
Before initiating HRT, a complete personal and family medical history must be assessed. Regular monitoring including breast examination and mammography is advised. HRT should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration needed.
How it works
Estradiol is a naturally occurring oestrogen that relieves menopausal symptoms by replenishing oestrogen levels. Dydrogesterone is a selective progestogen added to protect the endometrium from oestrogen-induced hyperplasia. The fixed-dose combination provides sequential or continuous combined HRT.
Storage
Store below 25°C, away from heat and light. Keep in original packaging.
