Uses
This antioxidant and neuroprotective combination is used to support nerve function and reduce symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, including diabetic neuropathy. It provides antioxidant support, cofactors for nerve metabolism, and aids in myelin maintenance.
Do not use if
Hypersensitivity to any component. Use with caution in patients prone to hypoglycemia. High-dose vitamin D3 is contraindicated in hypercalcemia.
Side effects
Generally well tolerated. High-dose alpha-lipoic acid may cause nausea, vomiting, or hypoglycemia. Large doses of vitamin B6 over extended periods can cause sensory neuropathy. Vitamin B12 and vitamin D3 are well tolerated at standard doses.
Warnings
Monitor blood glucose in diabetic patients receiving alpha-lipoic acid as it may enhance hypoglycemic effects. Avoid long-term high-dose vitamin B6 supplementation.
How it works
Alpha-lipoic acid is a potent antioxidant that recycles other antioxidants and improves insulin sensitivity. Vitamins B1, B6, and B12 are essential cofactors for nerve metabolism and myelin synthesis. Vitamin D3 modulates neurotrophic factor expression and calcium homeostasis relevant to nerve function.
Storage
Store at room temperature (15–25°C), away from heat, light, and moisture.
