Uses
Used with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Do not use if
Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas.
Side effects
Hypoglycemia, weight gain, nausea, and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur.
Warnings
Risk of prolonged hypoglycemia, especially in elderly patients and those with renal impairment.
How it works
Sulfonylurea that stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin.
