Uses
Used with diet to reduce elevated LDL cholesterol alone or with other lipid-lowering therapies.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to ezetimibe. Additional contraindications may apply when combined with other agents.
Side effects
May cause upper respiratory symptoms, diarrhea, joint pain, and elevated liver enzymes. Myopathy may occur, especially with statins.
Warnings
Monitor liver function when used with statins. Be alert for muscle symptoms.
How it works
Inhibits intestinal cholesterol absorption through NPC1L1 transporter blockade, reducing circulating LDL cholesterol.
