Uses

Used for osteoporosis in patients at high fracture risk and for increasing bone mass in selected cancer-related and glucocorticoid-induced conditions.

Do not use if

Pre-existing hypocalcemia, pregnancy, and hypersensitivity to denosumab or formulation components.

Side effects

May cause hypocalcemia, musculoskeletal pain, hypersensitivity reactions, osteonecrosis of the jaw, and atypical femoral fractures.

Warnings

Advanced kidney disease increases the risk of severe hypocalcemia. Monitor calcium levels and oral health.

How it works

Monoclonal antibody that binds RANKL and inhibits osteoclast formation, function, and survival.
