Uses

Used for susceptible bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, and certain other sites.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to azithromycin, macrolides, or prior azithromycin-related liver dysfunction.

Common effects include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headache. Rare serious liver or allergic reactions may occur.

Monitor for severe allergy, liver injury, QT prolongation, and C. difficile-associated diarrhea.

Macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit.
