Uses
Used for irritable bowel syndrome with constipation in selected adult women and for chronic idiopathic constipation in specific settings.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with bowel obstruction, ischemic colitis, severe renal impairment, or severe hepatic impairment.
Side effects
May cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, headache, or dizziness.
Warnings
Discontinue if symptoms of ischemic colitis or severe diarrhea occur.
How it works
A selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist that enhances gastrointestinal motility and intestinal secretion.
