Uses
Broad-spectrum topical sunscreen formulation used to protect the skin from harmful UVA and UVB radiation, preventing sunburn, photoaging, and reducing the risk of skin cancer with regular use.
Do not use if
Known hypersensitivity to any component, particularly benzophenone-3 or salicylate derivatives. Avoid application near eyes or on broken skin.
Side effects
Generally well tolerated. May cause contact or photoallergic dermatitis in sensitive individuals, particularly with benzophenone-3 (oxybenzone). Rare cases of acne or miliaria under occlusive applications.
Warnings
Apply generously 15–30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every 2 hours, especially after swimming or sweating. Benzophenone-3 may be absorbed systemically; evidence of hormonal effects in humans is limited but controversial. Avoid use on infants under 6 months.
How it works
Octyl methoxycinnamate (octinoxate) and octyl salicylate are organic UV filters that absorb UVB radiation and convert it to heat. Benzophenone-3 (oxybenzone) is a broad-spectrum organic filter absorbing both UVA and UVB. Titanium dioxide is an inorganic physical blocker that reflects and scatters both UVA and UVB rays.
Storage
Store at room temperature below 30°C. Do not expose to extreme heat or cold. Keep away from direct sunlight when not in use.
