Uses
A non-caloric sweetener combination used as a sugar substitute in foods and beverages. Suitable for individuals managing diabetes, obesity, or those following low-calorie diets.
Do not use if
No established medical contraindications. Not recommended for individuals with known hypersensitivity to stevia or erythritol. Use with caution in patients with irritable bowel syndrome as high doses may exacerbate symptoms.
Side effects
Generally recognized as safe. Erythritol may cause mild gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating or diarrhea at high intake doses. Steviol glycosides are well tolerated; very rare hypersensitivity reactions have been reported.
Warnings
Not classified as a drug; dietary use only. Individuals with sensitive bowels should moderate intake. Not a treatment for diabetes — dietary management and medical therapy should be maintained.
How it works
Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that is absorbed in the small intestine and excreted unchanged in the urine, providing negligible calories. Steviol glycosides are metabolized by gut bacteria to steviol, which is absorbed, conjugated in the liver, and excreted renally; they do not raise blood glucose.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
