Uses
This herbal combination is indicated for the symptomatic relief of cough associated with upper and lower respiratory tract infections. It acts as a mucolytic and expectorant, facilitating mucus clearance and soothing airway irritation.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to any component. Prolonged use of liquorice is contraindicated in hypertension, hypokalemia, or cardiac disorders due to its mineralocorticoid-like effect.
Side effects
Generally well tolerated. Occasional gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting may occur, particularly with liquorice. Allergic reactions are rare but possible in sensitive individuals.
Warnings
Avoid prolonged use without medical supervision. Liquorice can cause pseudohyperaldosteronism with extended use. Use with caution in children under one year and consult a physician if cough persists beyond one week.
How it works
Ivy leaf extract contains saponins (primarily hederacoside C) that act as expectorants and bronchospasmolytic agents. Thyme contains thymol and carvacrol with antimicrobial and antispasmodic properties. Liquorice root (glycyrrhizin) has anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects on the respiratory mucosa.
Storage
Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
