Uses

Combination product indicated for symptomatic relief of cold and flu, including fever, headache, nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients taking MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping them. Avoid in severe hypertension, severe coronary artery disease, and urinary retention. Contraindicated with severe hepatic impairment.

Side effects

Triprolidine may cause drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, and urinary retention. Pseudoephedrine may cause insomnia, nervousness, tachycardia, and elevated blood pressure. Paracetamol is well tolerated at therapeutic doses.

Warnings

Avoid concurrent use with other paracetamol-containing products due to risk of overdose. Use with caution in hypertension, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and prostatic hypertrophy. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery (due to triprolidine). Not recommended in children under 12 years.

How it works

Paracetamol inhibits prostaglandin synthesis centrally, providing analgesia and antipyresis. Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic amine that acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors to cause nasal mucosal vasoconstriction, relieving congestion. Triprolidine is a first-generation H1 antihistamine with anticholinergic properties that relieves rhinorrhea and sneezing.
