Uses

This combination of a potent corticosteroid and a moisturizing agent (provitamin B5) is used for inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and pruritus where concurrent hydration is beneficial. It reduces inflammation and supports skin barrier repair and moisture retention.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dexamethasone or panthenol. Avoid on rosacea, perioral dermatitis, acne vulgaris, viral or fungal skin infections, and broken skin without specific indication.

Side effects

Topical corticosteroid-related side effects include skin atrophy, striae, telangiectasia, and hypopigmentation with prolonged use. HPA-axis suppression may occur with extensive application over large areas or under occlusion. Panthenol is generally very well tolerated.

Warnings

Avoid use on the face for prolonged periods. Do not use under occlusive dressings unless directed. Not suitable for use in infants and young children without medical supervision due to higher surface-area-to-body-weight ratio. Use the lowest effective potency for the shortest duration.

How it works

Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with approximately 25 times the anti-inflammatory potency of cortisol. It suppresses inflammatory mediators through activation of glucocorticoid receptors. Panthenol (dexpanthenol) is metabolized to pantothenic acid in the skin, supporting coenzyme A synthesis, epithelial regeneration, and moisture retention.

Store at room temperature below 25°C. Avoid freezing and excessive heat. Keep out of reach of children.
