Uses
Used in selected patients with chronic heart failure and elevated heart rate despite standard therapy. May also help reduce heart rate and improve cardiovascular symptoms.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in severe bradycardia, acute decompensated heart failure, severe hypotension, and hypersensitivity to the components.
Side effects
May cause bradycardia, dizziness, fatigue, hypotension, and visual brightness phenomena.
Warnings
Monitor heart rate and blood pressure regularly. Avoid abrupt discontinuation unless medically advised.
How it works
Carvedilol blocks beta and alpha receptors, while ivabradine selectively lowers heart rate through sinus node inhibition.
