Uses
A potent, selective H1-receptor antagonist used topically (nasal spray or eye drops) for the symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to levocabastine. The intranasal formulation should not be used in patients with untreated nasal polyps or severely deviated septum.
Side effects
Local adverse effects include transient nasal irritation, sneezing, or epistaxis with intranasal use. Mild ocular burning or stinging may occur with ophthalmic use. Systemic side effects are rare due to minimal absorption.
Warnings
Shake well before use. Avoid contact with eyes when using nasal formulation. Contact lens wearers should remove lenses before instilling ophthalmic solution and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting.
How it works
Levocabastine is a highly selective competitive antagonist of the H1 histamine receptor with a rapid onset and sustained duration of action. It acts locally with minimal systemic absorption, reducing histamine-mediated symptoms of allergy.
Storage
Store at room temperature below 25°C. Protect from freezing and light. Do not use after the expiry date.
