Uses
This triple-combination topical cream is indicated for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma of the face, used alongside sun avoidance measures including sunscreens.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to fluocinolone acetonide, hydroquinone, tretinoin, or any component. Contains sodium metabisulfite which may trigger severe allergic reactions in susceptible individuals.
Side effects
Common adverse effects include erythema, skin desquamation, burning sensation, dryness, and pruritus at the application site. Hypopigmentation and skin atrophy may occur with prolonged use. Systemic absorption is minimal but possible.
Warnings
For topical use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Not for use under occlusion or on large body surface areas. Discontinue if severe irritation occurs. Avoid sun exposure during treatment. Anaphylaxis and severe asthmatic episodes due to sulfite content have been reported.
How it works
Fluocinolone acetonide is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation. Hydroquinone inhibits melanin synthesis by blocking tyrosinase. Tretinoin, a retinoid, promotes skin cell turnover and enhances penetration of other components.
Storage
Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Keep the tube tightly closed.
