Uses

Diclofenac diethylamine gel is indicated for the topical treatment of pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal and soft tissue conditions, including acute muscle sprains, strains, contusions, and localized joint pain.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs, and in those with a history of asthma triggered by NSAIDs. Avoid application to broken skin, open wounds, eyes, or mucous membranes.

Side effects

Local reactions include skin irritation, redness, and pruritus at the application site. Systemic side effects are uncommon with topical use but may occur with application over large areas or damaged skin, including gastrointestinal effects and renal effects typical of NSAIDs.

Warnings

Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use under occlusive dressings. Wash hands after application. Long-term topical NSAID use should be monitored for systemic effects.

How it works

Diclofenac diethylamine is a salt form of diclofenac with enhanced skin penetration compared to the sodium salt. It inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby decreasing local inflammation and pain.

Storage

Store below 25°C. Do not freeze. Keep tube tightly closed.
