Uses
Used for chronic hyperuricemia and gout when uric acid reduction is required.
Do not use if
Severe liver disease, hypersensitivity, or acute gout attack at initiation.
Side effects
Skin rash, gastrointestinal upset, liver abnormalities, and hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Warnings
Monitor liver function and discontinue if severe skin reactions occur.
How it works
Allopurinol reduces uric acid production while benzbromarone increases uric acid excretion.
