Uses
Systemic glucocorticoid used in endocrine, allergic, inflammatory, rheumatic, autoimmune, and other corticosteroid-responsive disorders.
Do not use if
Systemic fungal infections and hypersensitivity to prednisone or components.
Side effects
May cause weight gain, hyperglycemia, hypertension, mood changes, infection risk, and osteoporosis with prolonged use.
Warnings
Do not stop abruptly after prolonged therapy. Monitor for infection, metabolic effects, and adrenal suppression.
