Uses

Used for schizophrenia, severe nausea and vomiting, manic states, intractable hiccups, and selected behavioral disorders.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to phenothiazines, coma, or severe CNS depression from alcohol or sedatives.

Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, weight gain, and hypotension may occur. Extrapyramidal symptoms are possible.

Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis have increased mortality risk. Monitor for movement disorders and hypotension.

A typical antipsychotic that blocks dopamine receptors and has sedative, antiemetic, and autonomic effects.

Store at controlled room temperature and protect from excessive light when applicable.
