Uses

Used to reduce elevated serum phosphate levels in patients with end-stage renal disease receiving phosphate control therapy.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to lanthanum carbonate and in bowel obstruction, ileus, or fecal impaction.

Common adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and other gastrointestinal symptoms.

Chew tablets completely. Monitor for gastrointestinal obstruction or severe abdominal symptoms.

A phosphate binder that forms insoluble phosphate complexes in the gastrointestinal tract, reducing phosphate absorption.

Store at room temperature in the original packaging.
