Uses

Rectal suppositories used as a laxative for short-term relief of constipation. Act by stimulating rectal contractions and lubricating the rectal mucosa to facilitate defecation.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to gelatin or glycerin. Avoid in patients with rectal bleeding, undiagnosed abdominal pain, or bowel obstruction.

Side effects

May cause mild rectal irritation, burning sensation, or abdominal cramping. Prolonged or frequent use may lead to dependence on stimulant laxatives and electrolyte imbalances.

Warnings

For rectal use only. Not recommended for prolonged or regular use without medical advice. Consult a physician if constipation persists beyond one week or is accompanied by pain, bleeding, or fever.

How it works

Glycerin acts as a hyperosmotic agent drawing water into the rectum, softening stool and stimulating defecation reflex. Gelatin serves as the suppository base providing shape and controlled release of glycerin upon rectal insertion.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposure to heat, which may cause the suppositories to melt. Keep out of reach of children.
