Uses
Used to relieve cough and symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis. Promotes mucus clearance and eases bronchial spasm. Suitable for both productive and dry cough.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the plant components. Avoid in patients with stomach ulcers or gastroesophageal reflux disease due to the licorice content. Not recommended in pregnancy without medical supervision.
Side effects
May cause mild gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Allergic reactions to plant components are uncommon but possible.
Warnings
Avoid prolonged use of licorice-containing preparations. Long-term use may lead to hypokalemia, sodium retention, and elevated blood pressure. Seek medical advice if cough persists more than 7 days.
How it works
The ivy leaf extract contains saponins with bronchospasmolytic and secretolytic properties. Thyme leaf extract provides thymol and carvacrol with antispasmodic and antimicrobial effects. Licorice root extract contains glycyrrhizin, which has anti-inflammatory and demulcent properties on respiratory mucosa.
