Long-acting insulin analogue used to improve glycemic control in adults and children with diabetes mellitus.

Do not use if

Episodes of hypoglycemia and hypersensitivity to insulin detemir or formulation components.

Common adverse effects include hypoglycemia, injection-site reactions, allergic reactions, and hypokalemia.

Monitor blood glucose closely. Do not share insulin pens or needles between patients.

Regulates glucose metabolism by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and reducing hepatic glucose production.
