Uses
Used as an adjunct to levodopa/carbidopa therapy in Parkinson's disease patients experiencing end-of-dose wearing-off.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to entacapone or its ingredients.
Side effects
May cause dyskinesia, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, and urine discoloration.
Warnings
Avoid use with non-selective MAO inhibitors. Monitor for excessive dopaminergic effects.
How it works
A selective and reversible COMT inhibitor that prolongs the effect of levodopa.
