Warnings
Hypersensitivity reactions including vasculitis, angioedema, and reactions requiring hospitalization have been reported; discontinue treatment if serious reactions occur. Assess benefit-risk in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment.
How it works
Alirocumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that inhibits PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9). By preventing PCSK9 from binding to LDL receptors on hepatocytes, it increases the number of available LDL receptors, thereby enhancing LDL clearance from circulation and significantly reducing LDL-C levels.
Storage
Store refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C in the original carton to protect from light. Do not freeze or shake. If needed, may be kept at room temperature up to 25°C for a limited period as per label instructions.
