Uses
Used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Do not use if
Diabetic ketoacidosis, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction, or chronic intestinal disorders affecting digestion or absorption.
Side effects
Flatulence, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and gastrointestinal discomfort are common adverse effects.
Warnings
Monitor blood glucose regularly. Gastrointestinal symptoms are common during treatment.
How it works
An alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays carbohydrate digestion and reduces postprandial blood glucose elevations.
Storage
Store at 25°C; excursions between 15°C and 30°C are permitted.
