Uses
Used in the management of various malignancies including lymphomas, germ cell tumors, and certain squamous cell carcinomas.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity or idiosyncratic reactions to bleomycin.
Side effects
Serious pulmonary toxicity including pneumonitis and pulmonary fibrosis may occur. Fever, chills, and skin reactions are also common.
Warnings
Pulmonary toxicity risk increases with age and cumulative exposure. Use under specialist oncology supervision.
How it works
An antineoplastic glycopeptide antibiotic that causes DNA strand breaks and inhibits DNA synthesis.
