Uses
Used for chronic heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction after myocardial infarction, and hypertension.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in bronchial asthma, severe bradycardia, certain heart blocks, cardiogenic shock, and hypersensitivity.
Side effects
Dizziness, fatigue, hypotension, bradycardia, diarrhea, and weight gain may occur.
Warnings
Do not discontinue abruptly. Monitor for worsening heart failure, hypotension, and bradycardia.
How it works
Nonselective beta-blocker with additional alpha-1 blocking activity that reduces cardiac workload and blood pressure.
