Uses

This combination is indicated for productive and non-productive cough associated with bronchospasm, as seen in bronchitis, asthma, and other obstructive airway diseases. Bromhexine and guaifenesin loosen mucus, menthol provides soothing relief, and terbutaline relaxes bronchial smooth muscle.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to any component. Use with caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias, hyperthyroidism, or hypertension (terbutaline component). Avoid in patients taking non-selective beta-blockers.

Side effects

May cause tremor, palpitations, tachycardia, headache, and nausea (primarily from terbutaline). Bromhexine and guaifenesin may cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort.

Warnings

Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or hyperthyroidism. Terbutaline may cause hypokalemia with high doses. Monitor patients with known arrhythmias.

How it works

Bromhexine is a mucolytic that depolymerizes mucopolysaccharides to reduce sputum viscosity. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that increases respiratory tract secretions. Terbutaline is a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist that causes bronchodilation. Menthol stimulates cold receptors to provide a soothing sensation.

Store at room temperature (15–25°C), away from direct light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
