Uses

Used for symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, urticaria, angioedema, and other allergic conditions. May be used as adjunctive therapy in anaphylactic reactions after acute management.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in children younger than 2 years, nursing mothers, patients receiving MAO inhibitors, and those with hypersensitivity to carbinoxamine.

Side effects

Common effects include drowsiness, sedation, dry mouth, dry nose, and dry throat. Headache, palpitations, dizziness, and hypersensitivity reactions may occur.

Warnings

May cause marked drowsiness and impair mental alertness. Serious harm has been reported in children under 2 years; avoid use in this age group.

How it works

Carbinoxamine is a first-generation H1 antihistamine with anticholinergic and sedative properties. It competitively blocks histamine at H1 receptors.

Store at controlled room temperature and keep the container tightly closed.
