Uses
Used as an herbal expectorant and antispasmodic for relief of cough associated with upper respiratory tract conditions such as bronchitis and common cold. Thyme has bronchospasmolytic properties.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to thyme or other plants of the Lamiaceae family. Use with caution in patients with known allergies to related plants.
Side effects
Generally well tolerated. Rarely, gastrointestinal disturbances or allergic reactions may occur. High doses may cause nausea or vomiting.
Warnings
Consult a physician if cough persists more than one week or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache. Not for use in children under 2 years without medical advice.
