Uses

Fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for susceptible bacterial infections including urinary, skin, bone, gastrointestinal, and certain systemic infections.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to quinolones and with concomitant tizanidine use.

Side effects

Nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and serious tendon, nerve, or CNS adverse effects may occur.

Warnings

Associated with tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, CNS effects, and worsening of myasthenia gravis.

How it works

Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to bacterial cell death.
