Uses

Combination analgesic and antispasmodic indicated for moderate to severe visceral pain, including biliary colic, renal colic, and gastrointestinal spasms. Provides both pain relief and smooth muscle relaxation.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pyrazolone derivatives or anticholinergics. Avoid in patients with glaucoma, urinary obstruction, myasthenia gravis, or acute porphyria.

Side effects

Dipyrone may cause agranulocytosis (rare but serious), hypotension, and allergic reactions. Hyoscine may cause dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, tachycardia, and drowsiness.

Warnings

Risk of serious blood dyscrasias with dipyrone; monitor CBC with prolonged use. Hyoscine may impair cognitive function, especially in the elderly. Avoid in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment.

How it works

Dipyrone (metamizole) is a pyrazolone analgesic and antipyretic that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and may also act centrally. Hyoscine (scopolamine) is an anticholinergic that blocks muscarinic receptors, reducing smooth muscle spasm and secretions.

Storage

Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep ampoules in the original packaging until use.
