Uses

Used to relieve excess intestinal gas, bloating, and abdominal discomfort, and to support digestion.

Do not use if

Avoid in known hypersensitivity to any component or in bowel obstruction. It is not a substitute for medical care in poisoning unless directed by a physician.

Side effects

Generally well tolerated. Activated charcoal can cause black stools and, rarely, constipation, and may reduce the absorption of other medicines taken at the same time.

Warnings

Separate intake from other medicines by at least two hours, as charcoal may bind them. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

How it works

Activated charcoal adsorbs gas and intestinal contents, while anise and peppermint act as carminatives that ease bloating and spasm.
