How it works

Etofenamate is an ester prodrug of flufenamic acid, an anthranilic acid derivative NSAID. After percutaneous absorption it is hydrolysed to flufenamic acid, which inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby producing anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.
