Uses
Intranasal combination spray indicated for the treatment of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older. Olopatadine is an H1-receptor inhibitor and mometasone furoate is a corticosteroid.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olopatadine, mometasone furoate, or any excipient in the formulation.
Side effects
Common side effects include epistaxis, headache, nasal discomfort, and somnolence. Local nasal reactions such as nasal ulcerations or septal perforations may occur with prolonged use. Hypersensitivity reactions including wheezing have been reported.
Warnings
Avoid engaging in hazardous activities requiring complete mental alertness due to potential somnolence from olopatadine. Monitor nasal mucosa periodically for adverse reactions including septal perforation. Use with caution in patients with glaucoma or cataracts.
How it works
Olopatadine competitively inhibits histamine H1 receptors, reducing histamine-mediated allergic symptoms. Mometasone furoate is a potent intranasal corticosteroid that inhibits the release of inflammatory mediators, reducing nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, and sneezing.
Storage
Store upright at room temperature between 15–25°C. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Shake gently before use.
