Uses

Used for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and certain cases of oral ulcers associated with Behçet's disease.

Do not use if

Hypersensitivity to apremilast or any component of the formulation.

Side effects

Common adverse effects include diarrhea, nausea, headache, and upper respiratory tract symptoms. Weight loss may occur.

Warnings

Monitor for depression, mood changes, and significant weight loss. Dose adjustment may be required in severe renal impairment.

How it works

Apremilast is a phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor that modulates inflammatory mediators and reduces immune-mediated inflammation.
