Uses
Used for treatment of susceptible bacterial infections and topically for certain skin infections such as acne.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to erythromycin and with certain interacting drugs that increase cardiac risk.
Side effects
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, rash, and liver enzyme abnormalities may occur.
Warnings
May prolong QT interval and cause serious drug interactions.
How it works
Macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit.
