Uses

Corifollitropin alfa is a long-acting recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) analog used to initiate and sustain multiple follicular development in women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation for assisted reproduction (IVF/ICSI).

Do not use if

Primary ovarian failure, uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal disorders, ovarian cysts not related to PCOS, uterine or ovarian tumors, and abnormal uterine bleeding of unknown etiology. Hypersensitivity to FSH preparations.

Side effects

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), pelvic pain, abdominal distension, headache, nausea, and injection site reactions. Multiple pregnancies are a risk.

Warnings

Monitor for OHSS; withhold hCG trigger if at high risk. Single-dose SC injection only; do not repeat within 7 days. Use only under specialist supervision in fertility clinics.

How it works

Corifollitropin alfa is a chimeric molecule combining the FSH alpha/beta subunits with the C-terminal peptide of the hCG beta-chain, which delays renal clearance and extends half-life to approximately one week. It activates FSH receptors on granulosa cells, promoting follicular growth and estrogen production.

Storage

Store in a refrigerator (2–8°C). Do not freeze. Keep in the original package to protect from light. After removal from the refrigerator, may be stored below 25°C for up to one month.
