Uses
This triple antiseptic combination is used for skin and wound disinfection, treatment of minor skin infections, and intimate hygiene. It provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. Used as an antiseptic foaming solution for cleansing infected or at-risk skin areas.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine, chlorocresol, hexamidine, or related compounds. Avoid use in the ear canal, eyes, and on open wounds in body cavities.
Side effects
May cause local skin irritation, burning, or contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals. Chlorhexidine rarely causes hypersensitivity or anaphylactic reactions. Chlorocresol may be irritating on mucous membranes.
Warnings
Avoid contact with eyes, ears, and nervous tissue. Do not use in body cavities. Chlorhexidine can cause severe hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis; medical history of chlorhexidine allergy should be screened before use.
How it works
Chlorhexidine disrupts bacterial cell membranes, causing cytoplasmic leakage. Chlorocresol acts as a broad-spectrum biocide targeting cell membrane lipids. Hexamidine (hexetidine) interferes with bacterial enzyme systems and membrane integrity. Together, the three agents provide synergistic, broad-spectrum antiseptic activity.
Storage
Store at room temperature below 25°C, away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
