Uses
Used for chronic gout with recurrent attacks after the acute episode has resolved.
Do not use if
Hypersensitivity to colchicine or probenecid, blood dyscrasias, uric acid kidney stones, or use during an acute gout attack.
Side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and possible uric acid stone formation may occur.
Warnings
May initially worsen gout symptoms. Significant drug interactions may occur, including with methotrexate.
How it works
Probenecid increases urinary excretion of uric acid, while colchicine helps suppress gout-related inflammation.
Storage
Store at room temperature in the original container.
