Uses
Used to treat anemia associated with chronic kidney disease, chemotherapy, or certain other conditions causing reduced red blood cell production.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in uncontrolled hypertension and hypersensitivity to erythropoietin products.
Side effects
Hypertension, headache, joint pain, fever, and injection-site reactions may occur.
Warnings
Monitor hemoglobin levels closely. Excessive correction of anemia may increase cardiovascular and thrombotic risks.
How it works
Erythropoiesis-stimulating agent that promotes red blood cell production by acting on bone marrow erythroid progenitor cells.
