Uses
Indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. Not indicated for migraine prevention.
Do not use if
Ischemic heart disease, coronary vasospasm, certain arrhythmias, stroke history, uncontrolled hypertension, or hypersensitivity.
Side effects
May cause dizziness, fatigue, flushing, chest discomfort, or paresthesia. Serious cardiovascular events are rare but possible.
Warnings
Evaluate cardiovascular risk before use in susceptible patients. Discontinue if serious cardiac symptoms occur.
How it works
Selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist that constricts intracranial blood vessels and inhibits trigeminal pain pathways.
