Uses

Provides temporary relief from skin irritations, itching, and discomfort including perianal irritation. May produce a cooling sensation and mild protective effect on minor skin conditions.

Do not use if

Do not use in the eyes, on deep or puncture wounds, on animal bites, or on serious burns.

Side effects

Generally very well tolerated. Discontinue use if condition worsens, does not improve within 7 days, or if bleeding occurs.

Warnings

For external use only. Do not exceed recommended daily dosage. Do not insert this product into the rectum using fingers or any device. Protect from freezing and avoid excessive heat.

How it works

Calamine (zinc carbonate/ferric oxide mixture) and zinc oxide act as mild astringents and skin protectants. They reduce skin weeping, soothe irritation, and form a protective barrier over affected skin.
